You can make backups of your games using such a cable, but it's a hard work !

Check ripping guides here :

Question

Hi, Thanx for that,
I tried to rip Dreamkey v3.0 (Cos my mate has still got my xploder, little sod),
anyway it all worked OK after a couple of goes. But when its transfering, it eventually stops on something like "Packet #785", The blue message box dissapears then the pc just sits there doing nothing.
So I close Terra Terminal, after a while, and a box comes up saying Macro is still running. I canceled it, Found the file Tack03.iso.gz, But when i try to extract the iso, it takes ages then says "Unexpected End Of File".
Does anyone know what im doing wrong
Cheer

Cyril

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but since the process isn't over, it didn't close your file, so that's why you've got an unexpected end of file (copy process isn't complete).

Is your CD clean ?
Maybe your DC can't read it correctly...

Something's interrupting the download. It may be Windows going into screensaver mode or running another program in the background, or it could be your Dreamcast just freaking out and locking up. It also could just be a problem with that disc...

Try making sure **NOTHING** else is running in Windows. If you're using Windows 98, use the CTRL-ALT-DEL key combination to get the task-list up and end all programs except EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. If you're using XP or Windows 2000, you have to deal with the Task Manager (right-click the task bar and choose TASK MANAGER). It's a little more delicate working in Task Manager because it shows Windows related services (processes) as well as unnecessary programs. Just use your own judgement and if you end a task and something undesirable happens, just reboot the computer and it'll work again. Only remove those items that associate to programs you're familiar with.

Once you've cleaned the task list out on Windows, try the download again. You might want to try to clean your Dreamcast laser and lens. Only use an approved CD laser cleaning kit for cleaning the laser, as some chemicals may cloud the lens, rendering the laser useless.

Finally, the other thing you can try is PERSERVERENCE. It may take a few attempts to get it downloaded.
