CDR(OM) : IDE or SCSI ?

Hi, I've a scsi card with 3 drives (plextor 32x cdreader, plextor 4x12 cdwriter and a pioneer dvdrom) for years now.

I'm planning for an upgrade now, but I noticed the IDE drives are not only cheaper, but also faster. I bought the scsi system because IDE wasn't that reliable back then, but nowadays...are they any major differences between scsi and ide?

The only differences I noticed was in the (re)writing speeds, the scsi models support more slower speeds of writing (10x, 8x, 4x, 2x for the 12/10/32Scsi and only 10x, 4x for the 24/10/40Atapi)

I was thinking to dump scsi and get a 24/10/40A drive, but I'd still need a good cdreader to copy on-the-fly, psx, reading subchannel date from data discs...., preferably one that can read DVD as well. Which brand/type do you suggest?
