V5 No solder mod, EA patches etc......

Hi, I just bought my PS2. It's a V5, and I am thinking of getting the V5 no solder mod. Before I end up spending even more money....I want to make sure that I won't encounter any problems.....

Nightstalker, you seem to have the same set up as me, so maybe you can help.

I heard copied EA games won't play unless they are patched......is this true?

If so, how reliable are the patches?

Right now I'm using Maxell 700MB cd-rs........are they good or bad for back ups?

I use CDClone to copy, I find (for me anyway) it works better than CDRWin. I have GS2........do I need anything else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if my questions are simple......hey....I'm simple.....
