Ghost Recon LiteOn

LiteOn 24102B
CloneCd 3.3.4.1
Win98 2nd

I can make a succesful backup of Gohst Recon. The game fully installs but WILL NOT play unless I insert the original CD into the cd rom. It WILL NOT work in a REGULAR CD ROM. It also WILL NOT work in the burner, even with hide cdr media checked in Clone CD. I have tried with all the recommended settings posted in various forums. I have falshed to the latest firmware from Lite On. No other game has given me so much trouble to backup.

Also, I only purchased this game 2 days ago (03-02-2002). Is it possible that the cd protection is better on some later releases? A scan said it was safedisk v2 but who knows.

I thought Lite On 24X was supposed to copy SD2 with flying colors. Any suggestions guys?

Cool

You may need to use an additional program like beta blocker(looking into it myself) to disable the protections. I also have a lite-on but I haven't used it yet on copy-protected games. It may just be something simple like your firmware version or the speed you burned at.

SubChannel Audio/Data

I have noticed some people reccomend to UNCHECK read sub channel data/audio. Thats the only thing I havent tried.

Already tried with old firmware, newest firmware, read and burn at 1X,2X4X,also max speed.

We will see what subchannels do for it, I shall post results

Just tick fes. DO nOT tick AWS with the lite-on because it can do a perfect copy! you can use safedisc analyser to make sure what versoin of SD it uses! also don;'t tick any subchannel data. what settigns did you use within the fes setting?

The strange thing is that that lite-on should do it....

Success!

I finally made a true 1:1 working backup of Ghost Recon. You must write in RAW DAO. I tried DAO-SAO and DAO-SAO+SUB before at my failed attempts.

Also found that reading SUB audio/channel data makes no difference when reading. I tried both and either works well as long as you burn with RAW DAO.

Too bad I had to make 6 cds that I can't play from, but at least they can install the game. So I guess there ALMOST coasters...lol Hope this info can help someone out.

Ahh my faith is restored in the LiteOn burners.
