I got the burner long time ago and i was wondering is there any cd/dvd utilities/programs that can tell me who made this burner and or what brand is it? Cuz i want to upgrade it's firmware

The Logo printed on the writer.in the front is just ( CD-RW ) no other name

You can try by right clicking on My Computer folder then going down to Properties and then selecting the Device Manager tab and then click on the + next to cd-rom. In some cases the name of the manufacturer will be there. I had the same problem with my cd-rw, it came with the computer and i had no idea what it was and all that the property window said was IDE CDRW 4/4/24, so then I called Gateway and by inputing the serial number of my pc they were able to tell me that it was a Phillips cd-rw.
