dvd-r burning w/out dvd burner?

is there a way to copy ps2 dvd-r games without buying a dvd burner? i would rather not spend so much on a burner when i already have a regular one. so please help i would really appreciate if someone could tell me.

if you could burn dvd-r without a dvd burner, why the heck would they produce dvd burners in the first place?
there is no other way to burn a dvd-r.
