for those who are having trouble burning RA2......

To previous posts in the forum, many people have burned RA2 successfully......some people may be unclear on what to check "archive and read-only" in the files they've copied to their drives. Here's what you do:
1.) Copy all files from cd to hard drive (x:\temp\cd)
2.)once that's finished, unzip the crack for both cd's(allied and soviet)into your directory you copied the files from the cd into(x:\temp\cd), you can download the patches from gamecopyworld.com.
3.)they are done being extracted, the zip files extracted will make a folder "crack" into your temporary directory and place a crack batch file in your setup folder. Here's the tricky part. To make the crack batch file work for both cd's and to avoid that damn access denied crap message(allied and soviet), look for these files in your "setup" folder:
-setup.exe(right click for properties and check the box archive instead of read-only.)
-setup_allied/setup_soviet(right click and do same procedure)
-allied/soviet icon(same procedure, right click thingy ;-P)
4.) Run the crack_allied/crack_soviet batch file in your setup directory.
5.) It should work, follow procedure of what it tells you of what label to burn on cd, depending on what cd it is, RA1 or RA2

argh! it just says 'red alert 2 set up- please insert cd'. I did E-X-A-C-T-L-Y what u said but it just won't work. I do have both cds but the crack doesn't do anything except delete the original setup.exe and replace it with the 'cracked' one.

You also need to move all the *.mix and *.dsk to the root dir. on your hard drive for the allied and the soviet cd's.

<blydard> You mean copying *.mix and *.dsk from the copied cd to c:\ for example?????
