How do I backup Final Fantasy 9?

I would like to backup the NTSC US version of Final Fantasy 9 with NO cheats or region conversion, just so the backup would also work on a regular Playstaion with a ModChip.

Please, help me! Do I need to patch the game? What kind of patch, if any, do I need?

BOT is on a distinguished road
From what I can gather it doesn't appear to be protected

Thanks! How can I find that out myself without the need to consult the forum?

Anyway, if FF9 is not protected, then the backup instructions in Megagames will be sufficient?

Yes. On the basis of BOT's reply, just copy the first CD, preferably with CloneCD and if that works, the second and progress the game to that point, then the rest.
