Problem w/ FF9 and emulator

I made a copy of the FF9, but it won't work on Virtual Game Station or #####. VGS gives me a black screen while ##### says to insert a game CD in the drive, even though I already have FF9 in. Anyone know what the problem is or how to get around it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
