Is there a way to play burned PSX games without a mod chip?

I want to be able to play burned copies of my brother's PSX games on my PS2, is there a way, be it a boot disc or some sort of patching software so I can do this with out modding my PS2? A place to get a faq about this subject would also be helpful. Thanks alot
