burnt up my DC...can certain brands of CD-R be the cause?

Welp i think i burnt up my dc. when i put any type of game in (copied or original) it says "please insert game disc". I've been playing 1 copied game on it for about a week straight. The system has not been left running or anything, but is it possible the brand of cd-r has done this or is it just a fluke?
