Question SD4Hide make physical drives disappear?

Howdy.

I recently started using sd4hide, and since then, my dvd/cd drive (Memorex true 8x DVD+/-r/rw...) has ceased to be recognized by windows.

Is sd4hide to blame?

okay..

1. sd4hide is old
2. check if sd4 hide made a backup of whatever it messed with
3. if u find it, revert the backup
4. if you cant (or it doesnt do a backup.. cant remember) try
removing the device from device manager, forcing the system to redetect it (hopefully)
5. u sure the drive actually has been asigned a letter?
6. is the drive identified/detected in the bios boot report?
7. power + ide cable are properly connected to the cd/dvd drive?

more info helps, sd4 could have messed up the system settings, but it shouldn't be physical (ie: device should show up on the post / bios report output)... if it isn't reported by the bios, check the cables etc, if that still doesnt work it might be dead...

more information helps...

I've had that problem before several times.
I think it mainly occurs, when you use a program to hide the physical drives, and you also make a change to the virtual drives (either by changing the designations for them, or changing the numbers of them, which does same thing). Usually, the drive is simply disabled in device manager, and needs to be reenabled (with drives, it brings up prompt to ask for sure, as its thinking windows disabled for a reason).
