Exclamation A Nice way to Save space with POP The Two Thrones DVD Image (2 GB Lesser)

Hey all!

I am huge fan of POP3 but cannot play most of it as its image takes lots of space (4.15 GB) + Installation size (1.41 GB). So I tried something different yesterday. I compressed the image using Windows NTFS and its size was reduced to 1.91 GB Now the total space this game taking up with installation is only 3.33 GB, 2 GB less than previous. Well if we have to use the image to play this game without spoiling our original disks, I think this is the best way!

It took 15-20 minutes to compress...also the game disk size will change ONLY on hard disk, its original size will remain 4.15 GB, so starforce will not mess with it. (this is tested!)

I think starforce protection will get more and more Painful, and why the hell POP3 DVD is 4.15 GB when full installation takes only 1.41 GB!!!!! I think UBISOFT delibrately increased the size of the disk so that not all can create or copy its image easily! The game installation includes its extra features.....which is pretty annoying! Pirated disk owners are in better hands, atleast they didnot have to buy the game with price tag of $45 and still play the game with its protection enabled and didnot feel as annoyed as people like us, who do pay but also suffer!!!!!!

I would avoid Ubisoft in the future, but only for the sake of their awesome games!!!!!!! I JUST CANT IGNORE THEM!!!! I hope atleast a mini image is created for starforce 3.6+ as it is becoming more and more common now! e.g. EA used a version in NFSMW (Thank God No CD), and Knights of the temple 2 also had the same protection.

I'd say that's exactly why they did it.

Looking at the DVD, I'd say that pop3.zvz is the cause - it's 2.5GB, so it accounts for the difference between the 1.5GB game and the 4GB disc, and there's probably nothing in there except for a few kb of copy protection info so it'll compress to virtually nothing.

SF titles must have a certain minimum size to ensure the physical check can be performed; therefore you will find dummy files on most SF media

P.S. First 3.7 titles don't have ISO check so for the moment MI's are possible again
