SCPH-5552 MAJOR Problems :(
Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me...
I am having problems with an old SCPH-5552 PSX. My mate tripped over the power cord and it didn't fall or go with a bang or anything. But since that, it has failed to read ANY CD's at all - Games or Audio. What happens when you power up is it comes on to the 'SONY Computer Entertainment Europe' screen and the disc stops moments after that instead of going on to boot. Then it reverts back to the browser. I tried an Audio CD and the same thing happens. I go into the 'Audio CD Player' and the disc doesn't spin up or recognise. It just stays as it is with no options available to me. When I go to press play, the disc clicks once and stops dead. I have tried multiple discs but the same thing happens over and over. The discs are clean and in good condition. I have tried cleaning the laser, adjusting it in every position possible using tutorials off the internet but still no joy. What can I try next? Is there anything else to try? Is there any way laser ALIGNMENT could be altered? Does it need a new laser unit? or has it gone to the great scrapyard in the sky? Thanks a lot guys... LUFCfan

Try putting your psx on its side, upside down, etc. This can sometimes be a temporary solution.
