Unhappy Which DVD burner is better for PS2, -r or +r?

I have a PS2 and looking to buy a dvd burner. Which burner would be better for backing up my PS2 Discs a DVD-r or a DVD+r. Most of the post have people stating they have a -r is this more reliable for Backing up PS2 DVD's?

Also, which blank dvd's for the PS2 are more relaible, verbatim, or ritek?

DVD-R seems to be the more popular choice and reads a lot better in the ps2, however that is not to say that most version 5 to 8 ps2's won't read dvd+r.

DVD-R is just the more tried and tested method and seems to keep everyone that has them happy.

Why not get a Sony DRU burner that will do both?

Regards.

I heard somewhere that if you have one of the later versions it would actually be better to have a +R burner. I remeber them saying that +R had a higher reflectivity and thus will not stress the laser so much. Can anyone back this up. I never looked into it due to the fact that I have a +R burner that has worked great for me so far. Even works awesome in my Bros PS2 v1 that had a new laser put in. Needed a little tweek to start with, but has done well since.

1) Not sure about DVD-R vs. DVD+R, I use DVD-R and have had very little problems.

2) Verbatims aren't bad, better than generic dvds, but Ritek is best.
