desperate need for help (or attention ?)

I just got me a brand new PlayStation2 (PAL version) ... the first question which popped up was ... how can I chip it ?... i've seen several solutions... but I'm not sure if each one of them is very satisfying... what's the best method up to date ? the Swap-trick? Or should i wait until they make an internal chip which enabels me to play ps1 & ps2 backups without all the messing around with utility disks ? or is it already here ? I'm confused.... some help would be welcome, please....
