DVD's use denser grooves and a laser of lower wavelength, so a CD laser head can't read DVD's, it only sees a blur of finer details. The data format for audio DVD's is also quite different. If you have an audio CD player in your hi-fi, car etc., you can expect it to
not be able to read audio DVD's for both of these reasons.
