According to numbers (8/20), your drive should not be able to burn CD RW (it would have three numbers).
It would be wiser to change the DVD drive, because CD RWs would not be read on home CD players!
But before doing that, try CDRs from Mitsui (also available as HewlettPackard), or if you can't find some, Kodack Gold, or Ricoh. Being made with Phtalocyanine, maybe they can be read by you DVD drive.
Try also to write at 1x speed.
Make sure also, that your burned CDs can be read in ANY other drive : hifi player, car player, and discman, and that it is the DVD that is guilty!
CDRs are often difficult to read.
