Go get winamp or simillar from www.shareware.com and read the help files.
Or just use windows media player to record straight to your hard drive. Then when you go to burn a cd make sure you choose audio and not multisession style of burn and then just pick and mix from your hard drive what you want to compile.

Pay attention to software you use, burning software will sometimes finalise a cd, i.e no more recording possible, because it has to, but more often than not its the users choice. So if you don't want or don't have to finalise a cd, then don't.
