The CDRW WAS NOT A ltogether a bad idea

No, not for playing the game--but for checking for corruption on an image before wasting CD-R MEdia. Remember sectors 12-15? Mode2/Form2(Audio) sectors in the videos with the zeroed out EDC's (or "BE B0 13 3F")?? You can use CDRWIN's sector view and ISOBUster to find and check the EDC's on the CDRW copy--or just use one of your bright shiny new coasters you've been creating. They may be getting flubbed with the patch!

Open ISOBUSTER and find the Audio and Video Streams. Find a larger stream for each type--like 30MB's-- and make a note of the starting sector for each one.

Open CDRWIN and open Sector view, navigate to sectors 12-15. They should read as Mode2/Form2(Empty) with EDC of "0000" or "BE B0 13 3F". Next, navigate to the start of the Video Streams (type in the first sector where they start). Start stepping up through the sectors until you see a Mode2/Form2(Audio) description. I've noticed not all streams will have this data--but if it is there, you should find it quickly, and it will repeat itself throughout the file in a pattern (like every 8 sectors or something like that). Try the same with the Audio Files.

If you have Mode2/Form2 sectors with zeroed or "BE B0 13 3F" EDC's then they are probably OK, and the problem lies in either the mod solution or the media quality. The most important is sectors 12-15. They should only have the Synch string (00FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF), the header (00 00 02 12 02 is the time stamp for sector 12) and the subheader string (00 00 02 00 00 00 02 00) at the top--all else should be zeroes except for maybe the usually adjusted "BE B0 13 3F" EDC code (it will be in reverse order at the very end of the sector if you scroll down in the sector viewer). If sectors 12-15 are not true, then your image may never work--you need to use the ECCRegen tool in conjunction with the PPF patcher to reset the EDC's to the proper data strings.

Just a thought. I always snap off a CDRW in CloneCD (I have some 10X media) and check it for corruption before I do the 1X burn to CD-R.

Good Luck!
