I myself prefer the IDE (CD) - SCSI (CD-R) and the SCSI - SCSI combination. That is because it's the best way to have an external writer and thus it doesn't heat up the system. BTW I never had any problems, but after all:
Any combination should work fine, if you configure the drives in the right way and last but not least: SCSI devices are more expensive, so why spending more money than necessary?? It's definitely up to you !! Happy burning !
