No, the laser CHIP itself does not make any noise. Please
excuse all of us for generalizing! The LASER sled DOES move
across the radius of the CD. This Can be heard, especially
when it resets to the start. How can you call people noobs
and tell us the laser does not move!!??
And the sled's not the only other thing that moves. The
lens that the laser is reflected through moves up and down.
This can also be heard, especially when it hits it's limits
(sometimes the CD surface itself!).
So what do we have for distinctive sounds:
-Lens clicking
-Sled seeking
-motor spinning, can also cause CD slippage, yet another
sound.
