man, some of you guys are just noobs.
how does a laser that doesnt move make noise? it isnt the laser your hearing making noise, its the motor thats turning the cd. the laser inside the console doesnt ever move. i dont see how your laser can be damaged at all no matter what you try to boot. the motor that turns the disc however can be. if its trying to send mass info, such as a dvd, then its going to spin up very fast. but the laser doesnt have anything to do with that.
