No, I'm afraid they are physically & electrically different - both the drives themselves and the interfaces they use.

To use a SCSI decvice you just need a SCSI card, eg Adaptec 2920. They are more efficient than IDE burners as they have their own "intelligence" and don't burdon the system as much, BUT IDE is where most of the development action is, and machines are that fast these days that, coupled with "burn-proof" technology, are very stable.
