I suspect you're talking about Sony CDQ-74CN and TDK CD-R74 media. They're all very high quality.
Sony CDQ-74CNs have been known to be made by:
- Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd.
- Sony Corp.
- Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals Inc.
- Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.
- Ricoh Co. Ltd.
These are all high quality manufacturers.
TDK CD-R74's are made by either TDK Corp., a high quality manufacturer, or Ritek Corp., a medium-high quality manufacturer. Ritek have improved the stability of their media over the last year or two so now they're producing high quality media :-)
