Have you got an original Jap WE5? Because I've just successfully applied the Jap to English patch from Megagames.com to the WE5 original, using PPF-O-Matic without any file size mismatch.
From your question it appears that you have tried to apply the patch. Was this to an already patched ISO? Was the file a CDR-WIN .bin file? Who produced the file and how? etc.
