Are you talking about DVD movies?
Are you using the messiah clone that you got from charlie?
If both answers are yes, then read on:
What you got is a messiah lite, that does not allows you to play imported dvd movies.
You'll need to use DVD Region X or AR2 V2 to select the different region of dvd to play.
