This something can only be written by the makers of the game. If you make a copy you can`t copy the something on a cd or dvd. It is ion the hardware. A modchip clears the protectionsearch. So your ps2 console doesn`t look anymore for that something. Other modchips load the something from a original and save it in there memory and then they use it for the backup.
