Wrong, I got a new Panasonic that don't do that. Wonder how they do the protection? My guess is the reading circuitry, maybe fuzzy logic to process the signal strength or wavelength from the laser?[/quote]

audio protection - they must put like a digital encryption in the first little bit on the pressed cd that rw drives cant copy.. and specialised dvd/cd drives can read - i guess that must be it...
