Sorry to disagree, but it doesn't check the registry to see if the game is cracked. The updater checks the main exe to see if it is the correct file size etc. When you replace the main exe with the new "fixed exe" (the crack) you change the filesize.
Well that's what is the norm for most games - unless of course it's a different matter for MOHAA
