Campbell, in answer to your question in the otrher post, I certainly didn't say the NEO4 is good after a fashion. I said that it does evrything after a fashion.
It's a crap design because for 44 wires, you can't boot import originals and you still need to do a swap for EA games and DVD-Rs. Also it won't work on v5 PS2s. It's pretty useless going forward, eh?
NEO2.5 is a pace behind NEO4 in functionality because you need to swap for all backups and double swap for DVD-Rs. But with just 5 wires it's go to be a better deal if you don't mind swapping. But that double-swap stuff for DVD-Rs and special "Dave Mirra" methods for GS2/AR2/v2.2 is downright obscene.
So we move on to Origachip, which does everyhting much easier than NEO4, for only 15 wires. Boots import originals and a very simple single swap for all backups incl. DVD-Rs.
Finally, Messiah/Clone which will work on PAL (Oz) PS2s. 23 wires, does everything no swap. No contest - if you can get one. I'm supplying one to a guy with initiative in Brisbane.
So that's a comprehensive guide. My advice is Messia/CLone or Origachip.
