Seems there are problems with this game in WinXP and Win2K...in fact not even with the original game and those os can get it to work properly.
There are two methods to fix this:
1. Simply copy the cdrom/data/share/sys dir (just the sys dir not
the entire path) to your game dir (game dir will be gamedir/sys (which includes 2 files in Sys dir). The game installer puts these two files in windows/system32/drivers instead of windows/system32 (that whould fix it for users with original cd as well).
If that doesn't work:
2. Unrar the contents of the mr3_fixed.rar (3 files) to your game dir and enjoy!
