thats a simple calculation
single speed write/read means 150 kilobyte datastream per second
1024 kb = 1 mb
a full 700 mb cd with single speed takes...
calculation:
700 x 1024 = 716800 kb
716800 / 150 = 4778,7 s
4778,7 / 60 = 79,7 min
thats why on a 700er mb recordable disk always "80 mins" is printed on
so if you want to know how your drive should need to burn it simply do
burning speed: x = 8
80 / 8 = 10 mins
but that not all, this was the burning process only... the reading process is quite similiar except the speed is higher if u dont burn "on the fly", else the reading speed is (or should be, sometimes it isnt

exactly as high as the burning speed.
but in most situations a cd burned from the harddisk does a better job.
