EvilDead BITPOOL-Protected ??

Recently I bought EvilDead-Hail to the king.

As always I tried to make a backup. First of all, let's detect the copy-protection with some analysers. The most interesting result was from cdpd: BITPOOL. What kind of protection is it, never heard of it before ??
Well allright, cdpd isn't the best tool to detect a copy-protection, but:

1) I tried copying it the normal way (without clone, writer
isn't supported) with nero -> no chance (which I expected)
2) Trying to get a patch from gcw -> found!
3) Copying Cd1 to hd -> failed !!

The problem is that we are talking about the install-disc (the playdisc isn't protected!).
Well I hear you say: "So what Shithead, go and install the game from the original and backup the playdisc. You are surely not going to install the game twice a day ??

Well you are right !! But I always want to know how to backup protected cds, whether it is necessary or not.

So here is what I did:

- Save the System stats
- Install game from original
- Take a look at which modifications have been made
to system

Setup only modifies registry

Save the desired branches of the registry to one reg-file, save this file to the InstallDir of the game and then burn the contents of the InstallDir to a CDR.

Whenever I have to install the game again, I will copy the contents of the CDR to any folder, modify the regfile, import it and play the game. (Tested, works fine).

Is there any other way to make a backup of a "BITPOOL"-protected game (without clone of course !!) and which games also use this protection.

(A boring and far too long post ?? Maybe you are right!)

Ah, Monday morning.... Time to pay for your two days of debauchery, you hungover drones.

I could crush him like an ant. But it would be too easy. No, revenge is a dish best served cold. I'll bide my time until.... Oh, what the hell. I'll just crush him like an ant.
