Well Dude, the problems you have are not quite clear to understand. 1st of all write down exactly which version of the sims you use. 2ndly please think before you write down a question (just joking and kidding), because I don't know what problem you have (At least not exactly). Maybe I can help you with this:
Copy the whole contents of the Sims-CD to a TempDir. A lot of people then use the patch and replace the original file with the patched one.
This is not necessary in this case. Just download the crack, create a dir in your tempdir called Crack, copy the crack there and burn the whole tempdir to a cd. Don't forget to label the CD with its original name!! Install the game from your copy and then replace the original created exe file with the crack.
Thus, you have made sure that you still have the original exe on your copy (maybe for further patching). BTW you should of course have the original exe anyway, as you should own the original CD.
