Burning problems in Win2K

OK I switch to Win2K and I'm having a little problem with coaster making when I'm burning now. Ripping audio seems to be ok but a few minor jitters here and there unlike in Win9x and WinMe.

1) Where and what is the latest ASPI layers?
Is is 4.60 found here?http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?filekey=aspi32.exe

2) Why does Adaptec state for SCSI? Is it going to help or hurt if I use IDE?

3) What should I have the controllers set to in the DM. It's not like Win9x where you go to each drive and check DMA. IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers if you go to the properties on one of the controllers you'll see an option for the Transfer Mode: PIO only by default. You can drop down the option to choose DMA if available. What should it be?

Thanks for the help.
