to be honest, i dont use tutorials, not only is it more satisfying when u rip a dvd yourself and it actually works, but it is good experience if you plan on doing it again. you can always ask for help on this board if you need to...in answer to you questions
1-PPF file is a patch, which can be aplied with ppf-o-matic available from the PS2 utils section at www.megagames.com
2-i think this is possible, but im not too sure. post more info with an example on what your going to use it for
3-an IML file is the file exported from CD/DVD Generator, to edit it, download it from [ ####://playstation_2001.tripod.com/playstation2001/id13.html ]. to burn it using cdrwin, u need to make it an ISO file using IML2ISO available at the same site.
I think your trying too much too soon, im taking it that this is your first dvd rip....i learnt off this tutorial and i think it is well worth the time [ ####://www.megagames.com/console/cgi-bin/dlps2.cgi?DVDRipTutorial!zip ]
but even better than dvd ripping, if you plan on doing alot of it, it would be wise to invest in the dvd-r
