You can make a 1:1 copy of the CD using CloneCD. You then need the original Sims executable (if you are running a backup of the original Sims). Put the original exe into the sims directory, install the expansion. Then, replace the sims.exe file with a cracked livin large exe. That should allow you to play with the expansion, using no CD, or either CD (depending on which music you want).
