this is my first post in a long time
you guys changed the forums a bit but it's nice
i remember posting something like this about a page long on all the variables you have to look at
here we go again
1. cdrs: the best is really up to your playstation to decide. a lot of the times the lasers are very picky when it comes to cds. there is a little dial in your playstation that you can turn to adjust the power of the laser to read cheap cdrs, but it burns out the laser faster (not a good idea). cdrw's are a definite no-no. i personally use verbatim and sony (sony for sony products) maxells are good too. stay clear of cheap cdr's like memorex. they fall apart really easy and are shit to begin with.
2. program: this one is up to you, clonecd, nero and cdrwin work great with no problems. i personally use cdrwin because of it's ability to patch games that have modchip protection on them
3. speed of reading/writing: this one is up to you and mainly your ps. the reason is the faster you read and write the chance of getting video skips and audio skips and game freezes becomes higher.
the ps cd-rom is only a 2x so if you like to burn psxgames at 24x
the chances of getting a smooth perfect burn are slim to none.
again i read at 4x and burn at 2x. sometimes that isn't good enough so i go 1x/1x. this is for a perfect copy, but SLOW AS HELL.
4. the burner you have: right now i guess it really doesn't matter because of the nice burner selection we have now. they had some really crappy ones before from creative and other no-names. i have a plextor 16x/10x/40xA and it works great i also have a sony crx-120
which is a 4x/4x/24x and this works great as well.

so the only advice i can really give you is play around with different settings and find the best combination for your ps it's the only way to do it because everyone has a different setup that works for them
and might for other people but it's always good to experiment
hope i helped a little
