Nook, you'll find more and more games coming out on DVD now. The original CD games were sort of rushed out for PS2 release and were little more than variations on PS1 counterparts. hence they didn't need more than a CD's worth as the improved speed of the PS2 took care of matters initially. Now, games have more sophisticated scenes (as per GT3 tree shadows, for example) and game strategies that take weeks to complete. All this content and sophistication (demanded by the customer) requires disk space as offered by DVD.
You can bet that CloneDVD is likely to be round the corner, especially with NEO4 coming. Then we'll get those ridiculous situations of people trying and failing to crack CloneDVD and wondering why they are burning really expensive coasters!
