Its not the burner or your backups that are causing the problem.

The Burner that you have in my opinion is probably one the most stable units around and is also 100% CloneCD compatable.

Your Problem is more to do with PSX laser as Dal mentioned, but rather cleaning the laser which may help a little, i'd recommend re-calibrating the laser itself (you dont have to be an electronics WHIZ to do this, just a stable hand and a multimeter will sufice).
