I had the same problem for a while. But you can do it one of two ways.
1. Get an ethernet network cord and plug it into the back of the ps2 and then into your internet modem.
2. Get an internet plug (you would need to get two, and each have to be plugged directly into a wall plug, NOT into a power strip). So one of the internet plugs would be plugged into the wall with an ethernet network cord from the plug into the back of the ps2, and then the second plug would be plugged into a wall with an ethernet network cord from the plug into your modem.
