Play around a bit: try the drive in another PC; try different recordable DVD media (TDK and Verbatim preferred); try burning the DVD's with another drive and then put them into the NEC. (Taiyo Yuden media is one the best - see
http://digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm - so it cannot be faulty, unless you ran it a factory fucked up batch.)
