Creating a savegame function for a game from scratch is impossible. (Unless you have a "memory freezer" function like the Action Replay cartridges on the C64 and the Amiga or Game Wizard 32 Pro for DOS. These saved the whole memory into a file so that everything could be loaded back from the disk. I used Game Wizard very often with Dark Forces, an excellent FPS for DOS without a built-in savegame function...)
