Windows Installer does such BSOD's on my machine when an unorthodox file system driver (namely, the ext2 file system driver) is active. (The fuckin' software checks all drives and chooses the drive for its temporary stuff on its own, GRRR!!!

) But it can be a not-so-up-to-date IDE/motherboard driver, too!
