I've had that problem before several times.
I think it mainly occurs, when you use a program to hide the physical drives, and you also make a change to the virtual drives (either by changing the designations for them, or changing the numbers of them, which does same thing). Usually, the drive is simply disabled in device manager, and needs to be reenabled (with drives, it brings up prompt to ask for sure, as its thinking windows disabled for a reason).
