the patch worked fine for me. the original psx disc detected my mod-chip, after i patched it the game worked.. but i learned a little lesson from that.. i hooked up a continous tago switch to the c721 solder point (i think, its the yellow one for the 9001) & glued the switch on the outside my playstation so i can turn the chip on & off as i please. now i can play the original psx discs with mod detection, if i want to. its pretty cool. i have an internal switchable mod-chip.
