Caesar IV NoCD Instructions - crystal clear
Caesar IV v1.0, the way I do it! Works EVERY TIME!
1) Get BlindWrite V6.0.1.19 (the link on GCW is the one I used or the one at the top of this page, same version)
2) Create a FULL image file of the 1st Caesar IV CD. (You can keep the name of the CD as what BW creates (DISK1.B6T & DISK1.B6I)
3) Get Daemon Tools v4.08HE. GCW link again. (Setup a virtual drive. Before/after physical drives is irrelevant).
4) Get the procyon.exe with the modified date of August 22, 2006 (Just look at the properties of the file. It is the Securomv7.26Loader.rar). Place it in the directory where you installed Caesar IV.
5) I have NO emulation via Daemon Tools (i.e. The tray icon is RED). Right click the tray icon, select Emulation, All options off.
6) Mount the image file (DISK1.B6T) that you created with BW.
***** IMPORTANT STEP *****
7) When the load screen for Caesar IV displays, click 'EXIT'! Do not click 'Play Caesar IV'.
8) Create a new shortcut (on the Desktop is easiest, then it can be moved to wherever you like).
9) Browse to the procyon.exe file in your Caesar IV directory and select it.
10) Click 'Next'. Title it whatever you want (Caesar IV NOCD). Click 'Finish'.
11) Now, right-click the shortcut you just created and click Properties (the Target line should be highlighted and reads something like "E:\Caesar IV\procyon.exe". The path should be to wherever you installed Caesar IV).
12) Press the 'END' key on your K/B or click at the end of the Target name so the blinking cursor is at the end of the Target box (the highlight will go away).
13) Type -r "E:\Caesar IV\CaesarIV.exe" (Notice the path to CaesarIV.exe is in qoutes, it must be this way if your path is longer than eight (8) characters). So your Target line should look something like...
"E:\Caesar IV\procyon.exe" -r "E:\Caesar IV\CaesarIV.exe"
14) Verify the Start in: box has the install path of where you installed Caesar IV. (It should do this automatically since that is where procyon.exe is located).
15) Click Apply to save the changes and then click OK to close the shortcut Properties window.
16) Move the shortcut to wherever you want to keep it. (Games folder or wherever)
17) Double click the shortcut, wait for the spinning CD cursor to disappear and Wah-Lah! Caesar IV without the CD.
I have done this several times with different platforms and know it works flawlessly. If you have troubles, I suggest printing this out and following it step by step. I have not used the mini image files so I can not verify if those work or not. If you still have problems, you're just retarded.
YOU MUST REMEMBER TO CLOSE THE AUTOPLAY SCREEN WHEN LOADING THE IMAGE OR ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE!
I have not tried this with v1.1 of Caesar IV, only the original release, v1.0. Will get back to you all with info about the v1.1 update. Hope its as easy as the original.
