Time to give back to the community...

My first post, after the time I wasted on NWN2, I decided to give back to the community.

After sharing the same experience with Yuck...trying everything and nothing working...I was ready to give up. I consider myself a very good methodical troubleshooter and giving up was one of the things I don't do very often, especially when so many others say theirs is working.

Low and behold, I decided to do a total reinstall as a last ditch effort. Luckily it paid off. I have repeated it on 4 machines and all of them work with the exception of one machine not having a good enough video card.

Here is a step by step for those that might still need:

1. If you have tried to make it work, do an uninstall. Do not just delete the directory, but do a full uninstall. You can reach it in the Atari submenu of your start menu. If you do it correctly, it should ask you if you want to keep your save games. I chose "no". ( Do not skip this step, I know it takes a while, but I fiddled with my old install probably well over 4 hours...)

2. Make sure you have DT 4.06HE and SPTD 1.35. You can find links to both of these on http://www.daemon-tools.cc .

3. Physically disconnect your cdrom drives. I did this by disabling my primary and secondary IDE controllers in the BIOS. I knew I could do this because my hard drives are SATA. You can also just unplug the power cable or ribbon cable from your CDROM. I tried the "Disable" in device manager and that didn't work for me. You should only have 1 CDrom (virtual DT) at this step.

4. Do a full install of NWN2. Also now perform update to 1.2.809 or whatever.

5. Now run YASU and make sure it says it hid your DT cdrom. You can find this on http://www.gamecopyworld.com Only run this once!!!

6. Now mount the Posidean Maxi Image with NO emulation options in DT. You can also find this image on http://www.gamecopyworld.com My maxi image wouldn't pull up in Explorer, but the game didn't seem to mind. Once I followed the above steps, it fixed my crashing and "emulator detected" errors and everything ran like a dream.

7. Then run NWN2 from the start menu. Mine fired up on all 4 machines!!!

Good luck and I hope my first post was constructive!
