When I back up my games all I ever do is make a complete copy using the latest nero and then use a crack from gamecopyworld and they work perfectly every time. I've never found a game I couldn't back up yet. AND I have a LOT of pc games!
All this talk of images and getting by security seems so confusing
. Just go via the easiest route, works for me...
